I wish I had a little alien buddy like E.T. I would buy him cute outfits, take him to the park, and we'd become best friends. I'd protect him from the dangerous forces of scientists and government officials who want to send him back to his planet. I'd invite all my friends over and we'd play with him. It would be a glorious existence. Though, I guess you can do that with pets. They are your weird little companions that you have to feed and communicate non-verbally with. But it's not quite the same. There's no hope of teaching a dog enough English to where it can say "E.T. phone home." They just bark at the moon instead of riding off in front of it.

But that's why we have sci-fi movies. To let us imagine a world in which we could befriend an alien and not just a canine. Now on with the memes.
